CUs Report Identity Theft Scam

- BALTIMORE (03/01/02) - Police are searching for aman suspected of stealing at least $25,000 from two downtown creditunion branches using other people's identities. Eight cases havebeen reported at Oldham Family Alliance FCU and Point Breeze CU inDecember and January in which the same suspect created counterfeitchecks and used another person's identity to cash it. In each casethe suspect produced an altered driver's license to cash the checksor obtain an identity card form the credit union for futuretransactions.
