DALLAS-Advancial FCU and Austin-based University FCU have launched a new CUSO called 2nd Node to provide business continuity solutions. "A huge undertaking for 2nd Node was planning and building the disaster recovery center itself," said Larry Burwell, president of 2nd Node. "There was a great deal of planning that went into finding an optimal site that met all our strict criteria and coordinating the logistics of all the facility elements."

University FCU will be using 2nd Node for disaster recovery services, as a "co-lo" facility for its secondary systems, and as a tertiary back-up site for operations. While 2nd Node currently is serving the business continuity needs of UFCU and Advancial, the two credit unions hope to build even greater scale by adding more partners and/or clients.
