TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-Dan Clark, the former CU CEO who has been a well-known consultant to credit unions for the past eight years, has died from complications following a heart attack. Mr. Clark was 66. Born in South Valley Stream, N.Y., Clark went to work with the Florida Department of Financial Institutions as an examiner in 1971 before joining the Florida CU League and its service corp in 1978. Clark then formed a consulting firm two years later and joined the board of Score FCU, including a term as chair.
In August, 1987, Clark was named president/CEO of Tallahassee-Leon FCU, and was active in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and in expanding Consumer Credit Counseling Services. Clark, who was also active in CUES, left TLEFCU in 2005 to form Dan Clark Associates, where he created a YouTube channel, called "Board Governance," that contained tips and ideas for new and veteran directors of all types of nonprofit organizations. Clark hosted a Florida radio talk show on personal finance for a number of years, and published a large body of information for credit unions, including in Credit Union Journal.
