SMYRNA, Del. – Del-One FCU celebrated the opening of its first solar-powered branch, which uses photovoltaic panels to convert sunlight to electrical power.
The solar panels are mounted on the south side of the branch’s roof and are integrated into the overall design of the facility. The system will help reduce air pollution and also pay for itself in just a few years.
The branch offers drive-thru service, a drive-up ATM, a cybercafé, coin-counting machine, after-hours depository, and safe deposit boxes.
The credit union plans to incorporate other green initiatives into all its future branches.
