PHOENIX – Desert Schools FCU presented a check last week for $362,424 to the 1 Darn Cool School at Phoenix Children's Hospital.
The $3.3 million credit union has contributed more than $1.6 million to Phoenix Children's Hospital since 1998.
Funds are raised through a variety of events including branch change drives, a bowl-a-thon, employee barbecue and the 2008 CMN Golf Tournament which raised $220,000 for the hospital—one of the largest amounts raised in a single day for a credit union.
Boeing Wichita CU To Be Meritrust CU
WIC HITA, Kan. – Boeing Wichita CU, the state’s largest credit union, is changing its name Feb. 1 to Meritrust CU.
The $600 million credit union has undergone a number of name changes throughout its history, which dates to 1936 when it was chartered as Stearman Employees CU.
The impetus for the change came when the credit union first opened to non-Boeing employees in 1994. Some potential members thought they had to work at Boeing to belong.
