CANTON, Ohio - (03/01/06) -- Diebold Inc., the dominant player inthe ATM market, said Tuesday it has agreed to acquire the ATMservicing business of Genpass Inc., which provides maintenance for6,000 ATMs in 34 states. Diebold, the largest manufacturer of ATMsin the U.S., already services as many as half of the ATMs in thecountry. Genpass, which also operates an electronic funds transfernetwork, was acquired last year by U.S. Bancorp. Terms of theacquisition were not disclosed, but as part of the deal, U.S.Bancorp has agreed to have Diebold service its more than 7,100ATMs.
