WASHINGTON-Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT) called on credit unions to remain active in politics and to continue to play their role in helping Americans achieve their dreams.

Dodd, chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, plans to retire later this year rather than run for re-election.

"Now the dream is slipping away because of greed within the financial system, and failure of the regulatory structure," Dodd told the GAC audience. "Credit unions are good for America...I leave the U.S. Senate without knowing what my future will be, but I know one thing-that is I will always remain a strong supporter of credit unions."
