MIDLAND, Mich. – Dow Chemical Employees’ CU has added FamilyMint’s hands-on budgeting and educational application designed specifically for children ages 6 to 16.
Children can use the program to allocate savings, set goals and make transactions, the company said. Parents can automate allowance, encourage savings with motivating interest rates and reward deposits for goals.
"FamilyMint provides parents with a free, interactive and simple resource to help raise money-smart kids," said Dennis Hanson, president of the $1.4-billion credit union. “With this program, kids learn by managing their own money in a safe, virtual environment. Parents act as the banker and custodian of the money.”
