PHOENIX - Desert Schools FCU will join the millions of stores and shoppers starting their Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving by opening its 25 Wal-Mart branches at 5 am.

"This is a tough economy and we want to make it as easy as possible for shoppers to start improving their financial situation by taking advantage of Desert Schools' products and services," said Carlos Pacheco, SVP of retail sales and branch operations, of the early opening on so-called Black Friday. The $3-billion credit union will offer full availability of products and services, in-store promotions, PA announcements, raffle prizes and other activities in its Wal-Mart branches on one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
