CHAMBERSBURG, Penn. – A Maryland couple last week was indicted for their alleged roles in robbing more than $50,000 from four credit unions in south-central Pennsylvania and are believed to have committed at least three other credit union heists.
Two credit unions, American Community FCU and Patriot FCU, were robbed at gunpoint in Chambersburg.
Jason Dixon, 44, and Shawnette Fleet, 43, both of Essex, Md., have been charged with four counts of bank robbery.
They are accused of taking:
- $11,000 from American Community FCU on March 10.
- $33,907 from Patriot FCU on May 10.
- $8,600 from AmeriChoice FCU in York on July 28.
- $2,700 from AmeriChoice FCU in Camp Hill on Aug. 10.
The duo was caught on Aug. 10, the day the credit union in Camp Hill was robbed. Police stopped a gray Nissan Maxima going south on Interstate 83 and found evidence connected to the two robberies. Dixon allegedly told investigators that he had committed a series of bank robberies and that Fleet had driven the getaway car in each.
At the time, police said the couple allegedly robbed three credit unions in Lancaster County – Family FCU on Feb. 25, Wheatland FCU on April 8 and LANCO FCU in Mount Joy on Aug. 10. Charges have not been filed for those robberies.
