WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- A man used a stolen excavator to knock over a self-service kiosk and steal a 2,000-pound ATM from Allegacy FCU early this morning, according to police.

A stolen excavator was used to knock over the kiosk, pick up the ATM and place it into another vehicle around 1 am, police said. The excavator was stolen from a construction site about 200 yards away.
Police described the excavator driver from video surveillance as a white man possibly short in stature since he had to reach for the steering wheel.
