FRESNO, Calif. - (01/27/06) Educational Employees CU isrecalling as many as 4,200 member credit/debit cards they believehave been compromised, the credit union reported Thursday. Hackershave apparently obtained account and PIN numbers and have accessedsome of the cards for at least $22,000 so far. Credit unionofficials said the theft appears to be linked to Visa debit cardtransactions at two major retailers, but they couldntidentify the retailers. Affected members are expected to receivereplacement cards within the next week. Other financialinstitutions in the area also believed to have beenimpacted.
