Edward Face Appointed to FFIEC State Liaison Committee

The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) announced the appointment of Edward “Joe” Face to the Council’s State Liaison Committee (SLC). After approval from the Council, Edward Face begins a two-year term that will run through April 30, 2018.

Face had previously worked as the Commissioner of Financial Institutions for the Virginia State Corporation Commission’s Bureau of Financial Institutions since 1997. During his lengthy tenure, which started in 1979 as an examiner, Face has worked for each of the regulatory sections within the Bureau.

In addition to his work at the Bureau, Edward Face assisted with the startup of the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators in 1988; where he served as the group’s first two-term president.

The SLC consists of five representatives of state banking agencies that supervise financial institutions. Members of the SLC are designated from the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS), American Council of State Savings Supervisors (ACSSS), National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS), and the Council.

Face joins the current members of the SLC:

  • Chairwoman Karen Lawson, Director, Office of Banking with the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services, confirmed by the Council
  • Greg Gonzales, Commissioner, Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions, appointed by the CSBS
  • Mary Hughes, Financial Institutions Bureau Chief of the Idaho Department of Finance, appointed by NASCUS
  • Caroline Jones, Commissioner of the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending, appointed by the ACSSS
