SAMFORD, Fla. – At least eight members of Seminole Schools FCU have had their accounts emptied out as the result of what’s believed to be a skimmer scam.
In such a scam, victims’ credit and debit card information is stolen at the point of sale when they swipe their cards and enter a PIN. The credit union indicated it believes that’s how the members’ account data was accessed, and credit union officials and police are now looking for transaction commonalities among the eight people.
Members began contacting the credit union, which has said all lost funds will be restored, when they noticed money missing from their checking accounts.
