Alexander Devault, Jr., entered the branch around 2:40 p.m. and demanded money from the tellers. Shortly after leaving the credit union with an undisclosed sum of money, Devault was walking when he was apprehended by a Sheriff’s deputy. He had the stolen cash with him.

Devault is awaiting trial on a felony bank robbery charge in connection with the Feb. 13, 2012 armed robbery of a First United Bank & Trust branch.

Devault also was arrested in the 1994 armed robbery of the First United branch in Grantsville. Devault later was sentenced to a prison term of 25 years for the 1994 Garrett County bank robbery.
