BURLINGAME, Calif. – A former employee of Pacific Advantage FCU who was sentenced to four years in prison for embezzling from members’ accounts at the credit union on Friday was ordered to pay $451,000 restitution as part of her sentence.
Norielyn Bautista, 44, in August pleaded no contest to four counts of grand theft, one count of forgery and one count of identity theft. In return, prosecutors agreed not to seek more than five years in prison on the condition the sentencing judge could consider all the charges – even the 38 counts that were dismissed – to determine the sentence length and restitution.
Bautista embezzled money from the credit union’s general fund and the accounts of 15 members. None of the money has been recovered.
Prosecutors say she used the funds for personal financial needs including school.
