MARIETTA, Ga. – Employees of Lockheed Credit Union who are members of the International Association of Machinists Local Lodge 709 are walking a picket line here.
The union has rejected a contract proposal from the credit union and said the primary issue is LCU’s plan to institute merit-based pay increases rather than across-the-board pay increases. Another sticking point is proposed changes to pension and retirement plans.
The union said it is the first time workers have ever gone on strike at the credit union. According to the International Association of Machinists, approximately 80 employees are covered by the union, but only one-quarter of those pay union dues.
