ESL FCU Moves To New HQ

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Consonus, of Cary, N.C., and its data center relocation partner Hi-Tech Transportation, relocated 200 computer servers and other data center devices to ESL FCU’s new headquarters in just 12 hours last Saturday – returning one of the country’s largest credit unions to full operational status by Sunday afternoon.

Recognizing the need for data center relocation expertise, ESL said it selected Hi-Tech Transportation and Consonus to assist its staff in the detailed planning and execution of the move. A Consonus project manager led the intensive eight-month planning process employing Consonus’ four-phase process: (1) Requirements Gathering; (2) Design Planning; (3) Implementation Planning, and (4) Execution.

In addition to counsel on rack and infrastructure layout, the project featured a risk management component which utilized ESL’s existing disaster recovery facility to support 24/7 core business operations during the move. Because the new headquarters had been integrated into the overall network infrastructure prior to the move, all network capabilities were fully tested in advance. All non-critical equipment and cabling were pre-positioned to reduce downtime.
