ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The former manager of a small defunct Houston credit union was barred from the industry by NCUA yesterday for stealing $56,862 from dormant accounts at the tiny credit union, now part of giant San Antonio FCU.
Donna Gonzalez, 41, who headed Saint John Vianney FCU, pleaded guilty in 2010 to issuing checks on dormant accounts and depositing those checks into her personal bank account at Bank of America and was sentenced to 15 months in prison. The credit union was located at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church.
NCUA said it also barred Melissa Barajas, another former employee of San Antonio FCU, for embezzling $56,423.
Also barred yesterday was Cheryl Watson, formerly affiliated with Southern CU in Chattanooga, Tenn.
