PORT ARTHUR, Texas – The 9th grade Spanish classroom at Memorial Ninth Grade Center received a new look over the holidays, courtesy of Port Arthur Teachers FCU and its ‘Extreme Classroom Makeover’ contest. The excitement was palpable when students arrived back to school Wednesday for the first day back from winter break. The credit union refurbished the classroom with a fresh coat of paint, renovated chalkboards, plants and new fans, and bright red stools, as part of aid to education promotion. The 9th grade classroom was chosen by the credit union from among 13 submissions.
