GADSDEN, Ala. Family Savings FCU has switched to a state charter, easing the way for the $200-million credit union to serve more potential members in Alabama and Georgia.
In addition to Etowah County, Ala, and the 10 counties in northwest Georgia, the new charter will allow the credit union to serve all of Marshall, Dekalb, Jackson, Cherokee, Calhoun, Cleburne, Madison, Blount and St. Clair Counties, Alabama.
“Under the federal charter, the number of members we could serve was limited in Alabama,” said Monte Hill, president of Family Savings. “The flexibility with a state charter will provide the credit union with greater ability to expand our services in other markets.”
