DALLAS – The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas has introduced a new home modification grant program for veterans.
The Housing Assistance for Veterans, or HAVEN, program is designed to provide grants to households of veterans or active service members who were injured, and therefore disabled, as a result of their active military service since the September 11th attacks.
HAVEN funds are available through participating FHLB Dallas member credit unions and banks to assist individuals in FHLB Dallas’ five-state area: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas.
Under HAVEN, FHLB Dallas will award up to $5,000 toward the modification of the property, but if the member or another lender contributes at least $350 toward financial or other concessions in connection with the modification, FHLB Dallas will grant up to $7,500 toward the rehabilitation.
FHLB Dallas has allocated $250,000 for HAVEN, with funding available beginning yesterday.
