Financial Lit Improves Among Penn CU Staff

HARRISBURG, Penn. – Test results show credit union employees in this state have improved their financial literacy.

Over the past 10 weeks more than 1,500 employees from 38 credit unions in Pennsylvania enrolled in the REAL Solutions Educated Investor Challenge, an online education program consisting of 10 modules on topics ranging from basics of personal financial to investing in mutual funds. The program was administered to credit unions through a partnership between the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association and the Pennsylvania Office of Financial Education and Pennsylvania Securities Commission.

According to the PCUA, the program included a pre- and post-test to measure knowledge improvements. Following the courses, students improved their knowledge by 38%. At the end of the program, 14,025 courses were taken and special congratulations were given to the 1,303 who completed all 10 modules.
