First City Promotes from Within for New CEO

First City Credit Union, a $605-million institution based in Los Angeles, announced it selected Jim Miller as its new president and CEO, succeeding Terry O'Steen, who is retiring after more than 20 years with the credit union.

Miller, First City CU noted, has served the past eight years as the credit union's executive vice president and chief financial officer.

"We believe Jim's integrity, experience, and proven competence will lead an active pursuit of First City's goals and strategic objectives," said Willa J. Glover, First City CU board chairman, in a statement.

Miller has a Bachelor of Arts in economics and an MBA in finance from DePaul University. Prior to his tenure at First City CU, Miller served as the senior vice president of finance and administration at Mission Federal Credit Union (now a $3.1-billioon institution based in San Diego) and also served as a senior executive at several banks.
