The houses will be donated to potential buyers, with the stipulation that all expenses incurred to move the structures will be at the cost of the buyers. Due to construction deadlines, the homes would need to be vacated from the property by Dec. 22.

“The homes are in wonderful condition and we would hate to see them destroyed to make way for the new 1,476-square-foot addition to our LaPorte branch,” said Ron Budzinski, president of First Trust.

One house was built in 1918 and includes 2,128 square foot of living space, with five bedrooms, two baths and a two-car detached garage. The appraised value of the home is $116,000.

The adjacent house was built in 1908 and has recently been remodeled. It has 1,442 square foot of living space, two bedrooms and one bath. The appraised value of the house is $90,000.
