GOLDSBORO, N.C.-A member of North Carolina Community FCU for 36 years, Bill Reboli has been named a NAFCU 2009 Volunteer of the Year among CUs with assets of less than $150 million.
"Mr. Reboli's unique ability to tap into his experiences from being a retired Air Force major, and a retiree from the banking industry — mortgage and auditing — and the responsibility that comes along with this is tremendous," said President/CEO Bob McKenzie.
From 1996 to 1998, Reboli served on the supervisory committee at NCCFCU, before joining the board in 1998, where he remains active, including as chairman from 2003 to 2008.
"The commitment to excellence throughout his career and his 13 years of volunteer service at the North Carolina Community Credit Union is evident to those who are fortunate enough to know him, and to our members who ultimately benefit from his leadership position," McKenzie said.
Personally, Reboli believes that by educating the community about what credit unions offer, there are opportunities to be tapped in the current environment.
"We must convey our message of confidence to our members and let them know we are continuing to lend," he said. "We must remind our members that we stay abreast of the legislative issues that will concern their credit union and their wallets. Credit unions offer security and soundness."
Specifically for NCCFCU, Reboli said that its commitment to its members, and its community awareness, is what has kept the CU financially sound. "We are constantly looking for new ways to better serve our members through new programs, education and superior service," he said. "For example, we focus on the top five things we do best: service, lending, CUDL auto business, e-banking, and relationship pricing with our members."
