SAN DIEGO - (04/29/05) -- San Diego County CU has agreed tosponsor the city's second major college football bowl game. Thegame will be called the Poinsettia Bowl and will be played Dec. 22at Qualcomm Stadium, matching a team from the Mountain WestConference against an at-large team. It will be run by the samepeople who operate the city's Holiday Bowl a week later. ThePoinsettia Bowl was the second choice in a poll that named theHoliday Bowl in 1978. The nation's biggest poinsettia producer,Ecke Ranch, is in northern San Diego County.
