Johnson, most recently an independent consultant associated with The Collingwood Group, will succeed Alan Cameron, who is retiring June 30, after 13 years heading the state trade group.

Johnson worked as vice president, state governmental affairs for CUNA Washington from 2006 to 2010. At CUNA, he monitored state legislative and regulatory issues, prepared issue digests, served as liaison with legislative and regulatory organizations, and supported league advocacy efforts. Prior to joining CUNA, he worked for Freddie Mac as managing associate general counsel, lending his legal and advocacy support to their mortgage purchase and servicing functions.
