DETROIT-Former NBA player Walter Bond was the keynote motivational speaker at the annual conference of the African-American CU Coalition.
Bond told attendees "life is a lot like a relay race, no one can stop you but you." NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz and Jill Vicente, SVP with Seattle Metropolitan CU, also spoke to the event. Herbert Hoosman, retired president/CEO of Vantage CU of Bridgeton, Mo., was presented with the Pete Crear Lifetime Achievement Award.
During the meeting, Lynette Smith, president/CEO of Washington Gas Light FCU, was elected chair; Mark Brantley, chair of Municipal CU of New York was elected vice chair; Timothy Anderson, president/CEO of Government Printing Office was elected treasurer, and Tonita Webb, SVP/chief administrative officer of Seattle Metropolitan CU was elected secretary.
