Four Banned from Industry by NCUA

NCUA issued its prohibition orders for the month of February, prohibiting four people from employment and activity in the affairs of any federally insured financial institution.

Dorothy Stegall Barnes, formerly of Pantex Federal Credit Union in Borger, Texas, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison with five years' supervision upon release, after pleading guilty to embezzlement. The restitution amount is about $797,336.

Leticia Griffiths, who worked at Tri-Cities Community Federal Credit Union in Kennewick, Wash., and Derek Ray Miller, of Kansas State University Federal Credit Union in Manhattan, Kan., each pleaded guilty to theft. Griffiths sentence includes 60 days in prison and $25,679 in restitution. She was granted a work release. After serving a seven-month prison sentence, Miller will be granted parole that will require 60 weekend days in prison and a one-year probation period.

Kathryn Sue Simmerman, a former employee of Shoreline Federal Credit Union in Norton Shores, Mich., pleaded guilty to embezzlement and structuring. She was sentenced to 78 months in prison with two years of supervised release upon completion, as well as restitution in the amount of $1.9 million.

Violation of a prohibition order is a punishable by imprisonment and up to a $1 million fine.
