TULSA, Okla. Three men who authorities say were members of the “Hoover Crips” gang on Friday were found guilty of a series of violent armed robberies, including last September’s holdup at Tulsa Municipal Employees FCU when $164,000 was stolen.
The men went into the credit union wearing masks, carrying guns, shouting orders, jumping over the counter, and even fired a shot that broke a glass partition near a teller, before they headed for the vault.
Authorities said eight Hoover Crip members have been robbing Tulsa businesses since 2009 and also have been charged with robbing two banks and a pharmacy. The other five gang members all pleaded guilty to various charges before the trial began in the Tulsa courtroom.
All eight are awaiting sentencing.
The three convicted Friday were Vernon Hill, 27, Dejuan Hill, 24, and Deandre Hopkins, 23.
