The 22-year-old man told authorities when he returned from sea he was missing $8,225 from his Navy Fed account and that the checks the credit union gave him were made out to his girlfriend.

The woman eventually admitted to taking the money and agreed to repay the man, authorities said. But she hadn’t repaid the money by last week, and her now ex-boyfriend decided to pursue legal action.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of first-degree theft, identity theft and making false statements to police with bail initially set at $25,000.
