Guardians Credit Union in Florida names industry veteran as CEO

Guardians Credit Union hired Steve Bosack as its new president and CEO.

He succeeds John Deese, who retired on Dec. 31 after 44 years with the $302 million-asset credit union based in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Most recently, Bosack spent seven years as chief of staff of the $35.5 billion-asset Pentagon Federal Credit Union in McLean, Virginia, the third largest credit union in the U.S.

Steve Bosack is the new president and CEO of Guardians Credit Union in Florida.

He also previously worked for the National Credit Union Administration, first serving as senior policy advisor to board member Debbie Matz and later as her chief of staff after Matz was named board chairman.

"I have watched his career blossom over the years," Deese said of Bosack in a press release. "He is a perfect leader to carry on the Guardians tradition of 'people helping people' mantra."

Bosack's career in the credit union space began when he was an associate editor for the Credit Union Times. He later worked a decade as vice president of public relations and information services for the Credit Union National Association.

Deese began working for Guardians Credit Union in 1978 at age 19 when he was hired as the credit union's manager. He was named Guardians' president and CEO while he was in college.

Guardians earned $2.6 million in 2022, a 23% decrease compared with a year earlier, according to call report data from the NCUA.
