H&R Block said that participating CUs in its Credit Union Tax Services program have grown to 33, up from 15 at the same time last year. Those 33 credit union represent nearly 4.5-million members.The service offers free online federal tax preparation for do-it-yourself taxpayers, and access to professional tax advice through an office or online at a discount. The company has 9,000 local offices. Patelco Credit Union, San Francisco, and University FCU, Austin, Texas, are among the most recent to sign on with the program. "We have seen significant increases in the number of members who have signed on as home banking users as a result of the H&R Block program," said Yung Tran, chief financial officer with University Federal Credit Union.
Other participating CUs include Navy Federal, Bethpage Federal, Digital Federal, Eastern Financial Federal, and Wright-Patt Credit Union. For info: 800-799-5040.
