Habitual Robber Sentenced To 15 Years For Failed CU Heist

WAUSAU, Wis. -- A recidivist bank robber will spend the next 15 years behind bars after his fourth robbery conviction in 34 years, an attempted hold-up at Tower CU, now known as Connexus CU.

David Samuelson was convicted in a 1978 burglary, a 1984 armed robbery and a 1993 robbery in New Mexico, according to court records. He also was convicted in 1994 on charges connected to a 1994 Brown County robbery and of beating his wife in 2009. He has spent more than 21 years in prison.

Samuelson originally was charged with two counts of attempted robbery for the Jan. 10 attempted robbery and was convicted on both counts as part of a plea deal.
