ORLANDO-A bonus session has been added to Credit Union Journal's Grow Show on health insurance exchanges as a potential revenue source for credit unions.
As reported in Credit Union Journal March 18, EPL has just announced plans to form Credit Union Exchange Blueprint, a national private health insurance exchange to be open to all CU employees and members that will be offered through credit unions.
The goal is to cut employee healthcare costs, help attract new members and generate income for credit unions. The Grow Show session, to be led by EPL CEO Wayne Benson, will focus on all three areas of this newly emerging opportunity.
"There is a significant revenue stream for credit unions from this," Benson said iin an earlier interview.
Driving the possibilities here for credit unions is the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare, provisions of which will begin kicking in in 2014. EPL is partnering with Health Partners America on the initiative.
Grow Show will be the first public forum at which the concept will be discussed and the bonus session on health insurance exchanges will take place as an afternoon keynote on the opening day, May 29. It will follow an equally exciting session on Mobile and Payments, with the sessions followed by a reception at which additional discussion will be able to take place.
"There is a real disruption that is taking place and will continue to take place for some time," said Josh Hilgers of Health Partners America. "For credit unions to be able to provide guidance and assistance in these times is a natural fit."
The bonus session on health are exchanges is just the latest addition to the packed agenda for Grow Show, which is now just six months away. Other sessions will examine a variety of lending and membership building initiatives.
