Heroin Addict Jailed For Two CU Robberies

SALEM, Mass. – A Lynn father who said he robbed two local credit unions because he's addicted to heroin and needed money to buy his daughter a Christmas present last December is headed to state prison for five years.

Philip Bassi, 34, changed his plea from innocent to guilty Friday in last December’s robberies at St. Jean’s CU and Metro CU.

While questioning Bassi at an apartment he shared with his girlfriend, investigators found several pieces of clothing, baseball caps and sneakers that matched what the robber was wearing.
