Honolulu Police Hunt Serial ‘Backpack Bandit’

HONOLULU – Honolulu Police and the FBI are searching for a man who robbed at least four local institutions at gunpoint, starting with Hawaii FCU in March.

The serial robber changes his appearance for each heist, but carries a backpack, sunglasses, a hat and most importantly a gun during each, thus the nickname, the “Backpack Bandit.” He has also worn what appears to be a wig in two of the robberies.

In each case surveillance cameras caught his image.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.
