HOPE FCU is offering 90-day bridge loans at 0% interest to its members and small businesses. The credit union is also loosening terms on auto, mortgage and business loan through year's end to assist hurricane survivors.
In addition, the credit union said it will award several $1,000 grants, through the New Orleans Police Foundation, to New Orleans Police Department officers who remained on the job during Hurricane Katrina. Grants are also being offered to some nonprofit organizations that serve small businesses and residents.
HOPE FCU is also offering "Hurricane Evacuation" accounts, similar to Christmas Club accounts, where members save throughout the year and are allowed to withdraw the funds during hurricane season to make repairs or pay evacuation expenses.
