How To Support CU Museum

America's Credit Union Museum is turning to America's credit unions as it seeks to raise approximately $1.2 million to repay a participation refurbishment loan, maintain the facility and establish a permanent endowment.

The museum is housed in the very building in which the first credit union operated in the U.S., better known as St. Mary's Bank. It has been featured in The Credit Union Journal several times since opening, with reviews noting the Smithsonian-like quality of its displays. It also includes a third floor meeting facility open to any credit union or board that wishes to visit; the museum is approximately one hour north of Boston.

The New England Credit Union Heritage Foundation has raised $1.8 million toward its $3-million campaign goal for the museum. Credit unions can get more information on the museum by visiting www.acumuseum.org, or by calling 603-629-1553. Gordon Simmons, president of Service CU in New Hampshire, is chairman of the NECUHF.
