MILAN, Ill. – An employee of DHCU Community CU was charged last week with complicity in last year’s armed robbery of $112,400 from the credit union’s ATM.
Rachel Pitchford was charged in a grand jury indictment with lying to authorities when she denied telling one of the robbers the credit union’s procedures for servicing the ATM. Authorities said Pitchford gave Christopher Myles specific information about the time of day the ATM was serviced, the number of credit union employees who serviced the machine and the amount of security present each time.
Myles pleaded guilty earlier this month to robbery and conspiracy charges in connection with the June 23, 2008 heist, during which he entered the credit union around 8:45 am and forced an employee servicing the ATM to fill two bags with cash.
His accomplice, Evander Jordan, is awaiting trial on accessory charges.
Soon after the robbery Myles bought a new Lincoln Towncar with some of the cash from the hold-up. The rest of the money ha snot been recovered.
