NORRISTOWN, Penn. – The ex-girlfriend of one of a man she helped rob two credit unions and two banks after meeting him on the Internet will be under court supervision for seven years after confessing to driving the getaway cars in those hold-ups.
Carmen Wilkes, 35, was sentenced in state court to 11½ months already served to 23 months in jail, to be followed by five years' probation, in connection with her role as a driver during four robberies committed by her former boyfriend, Jayson Rayford, between October 2006 and March 2007.
Rayford and Wilkes met online and developed a romantic relationship over the course of six months in 2006. Rayford initially told Wilkes he was a music producer.
Wilkes testified against Rayford during a November 2007 trial, at which a jury convicted Rayford of robbing the Com Trust FCU on Oct. 27, 2006, of $8,951. Rayford is also linked to armed robberies at Superior CU, DNB First Bank and First Penn Bank, when $57,705 was stolen.
