Representatives of Iowa's CUs have traveled to Panama to establish a "People to People Partnership" exchange with that country's CU community. The Iowa delegation met with COFEP, the Panama credit union trade association, to set the groundwork for a long-term partnership.
Panama's CUs indicated they are interested in a firmer regulatory structure, and approximately 100 Panamanians attended a four-hour educational session with Iowa's CUs on a host of topics. Iowans making the trip included Patrick Jury, Murray Williams, Jan Dietzenbach, Patrick Drennan, and Mark Kilian.
