CU*Answers Offers Scholarships
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-CU*Answers, a CUSO offering technology solutions, has introduced a scholarship program designed to provide data processing services at no charge for a two-year period to chosen credit unions.
Plans are to award up to five scholarships per year based upon the number of candidates meeting the necessary criteria. It added the "Spirit of CU*Answers Award" will be based not only upon demonstrated financial need, but also financial opportunity. It requires the credit union to have a documented plan that illustrates how the use of the CU*BASE system, and the services and solutions provided by a partnership with the CU*Answers network will be significant to its success.
In additional news, a collaborative effort between 41 credit unions to increase CU*EasyPay! enrollment resulted in an increase of 16% in electronic bill payments during the final two months of 2008 compared to the previous two months. A handful of CUs saw a jump by as much as 200%.

Fiserv Earns Top Spot On List
BROOKFIELD, Wis.-Fiserv is the most innovative user of technology in the banking and financial services industry according to a list published by InformationWeek. The magazine also ranked Fiserv fourth overall on its list of 500 tech companies. InformationWeek chose Fiserv as one of the top five companies based on the its use of services oriented architecture, as well as its innovative products.

Share One Moves Headquarters
MEMPHIS, Tenn.-CUSO Share One Inc. has moved its corporate headquarters; but the jaunt was not too far as it simply relocated its office to a business center in East Memphis. According to the company's president, the move was "highly anticipated and welcomed," as it provides a big upgrade. The new center offers an on-site deli, health club, a security staff and is located near several hotels. Share One serves over 60 credit unions, some with over $1 billion in assets, and is a leading developer of Internet software solutions.
Synergent Works To Prevent Theft
WESTBROOK, Maine-Technology services corporation Synergent is helping young credit union members avoid identity theft. Central Maine Credit Union worked with Synergent Print & Creative Services to come up with materials to educate young people about ID thieves targeting kids - a crime that is on the rise. Synergent graphic designers came up with an educational piece and are now offering that product to all credit unions.
