$1M In Daily Dwolla Transaction

DES MOINES, Iowa--Dwolla, which combines social networks and location-based technologies with online and mobile payments, said it is now processing $1 million in transactions daily. The milestone for the payments network, which charges a flat 25-cent fee for transactions of all sizes, calculates to a potential user savings of $30,000 every 24 hours when compared to traditional payment networks, the company said. Fifteen FIs have signed on with Dwolla, including most recently Ace Community CU.

189 CUs Now Using CU*Base

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-During its Annual Leadership Conference, CU*Answers reported it closed its 2011 business year with 189 CUs using its CU*BASE solution. The CUSO said those totals include the 20 credit union clients of CU*NorthWest in Spokane, Wash., and 13 clients of CU*South, Mobile, Ala. During the fiscal year it added 16 new CUs from nine states.

Separately, CU*Answers announced a number of fee decreases and other changes it said will result in $466,000 in savings for its online CU*BASE processing in its 2012 business year. Meanwhile, in conjunction with FULVEW Productions, it has released a new Web site that it says brings high-quality video to CUs.

Banner FCU Signs With TRC

PHOENIX-Banner FCU has signed with TRC Interactive to provide it with First Line of Defense Fraud Detection and Loss Prevention Challenge. Each individual challenge in First Line of Defense is a simulation that replicates the transaction experience, the company said. It is up to the learner to decide if the transaction being presented to them is legitimate or fraudulent, TRC said.
