Fiserv Sees EFT Volume Surge

FBROOKFIELD, Wis.-Fiserv, is reporting that its EFT business unit has seen record volume in key transaction categories for the first six months of 2005. The company reported volume of 2.28 billion transactions, a 13% increase over comparable 2004 volume of 2.02 billion. At the Fiserv-owned ACCEL/Exchange Network, six-month transaction totals grew 40% in 2005 versus 2004, buoyed by robust POS transaction activity. For the first six months of 2005, POS activity increased by 50% to 160 million transactions. ACCEL/Exchange transactions are currently enabled at 73,000 ATMs and approximately 2.4 million POS devices nationwide.

AAFCU Deploys Summit Suite

DFW AIRPORT, Texas-American Airlines Federal Credit Union is deploying Summit Information Systems Branch Suite solution and contact management capabilities. The Summit Branch Suite, a new Summit Spectrum core processing solution, displays a comprehensive view of the member-credit union relationship, according to Summit. "This detailed information enables the credit union's front office and call center staff to personalize their interaction with each member and recommend specific credit union products appropriate for the member. New contact management capabilities, developed through a strategic collaboration with Summit and Fiserv Customer Center Solutions (CCS), interface directly with the Spectrum system to simplify new account opening, cross sales activities and member service," the company said.

SmartSource Does Redesign

WALLINGFORD, Conn.-SmartSource Solutions, LLC, a wholly owned CUSO of Constitution Corporate Credit Union, has desinged a new website for the $200-million Credit Union of America. The site can be found at www.cuofamerica.com. "We really wanted to wow our members," said Glenda Burkett, vice president of marketing for Credit Union of America (CUA). "The SmartSource designers worked with us to revamp the entire site and achieve our ultimate goal-to reduce the number of clicks that any one member has to make to get to the information they need. The site also contains a search engine, an interactive community events calendar and 10 specialized decision-making calculators to assist members with everything from saving for college and retirement to buying a vehicle or home. Banner ads allow for targeted marketing campaigns and a member polling section allows CUA to gather important feedback from members, the company said.

Two Ohio CUs Choose AFTECH

MALVERN, Penn.-Two Ohio-based CUs have converted to the AFTECH Advantage core processing system. Converting were the $25-million First Ohio Community FCU in Stark County and the $25-million St. Joseph's FCU in Canton. Both credit unions will use the solution to broaden their member service offerings, including adding home banking and a host of other features, including the aftech@net home banking solution and Advantage Financial suite.

Coastal Selects Time-Warner

ALEIGH, N.C.-Coastal FCU said it has signed a second multi-year contract with Time Warner Telecom to provide all of its voice, video and Internet services for its network of branches, headquarters, ATMs and disaster recovery site. The company is currently installing IP-based Virtual Private Network services to 21 Coastal FCU ATMs, which will be completed in October.

Earlier this year, Time Warner Telecom installed VersiPak, a bundled voice and data network solution, in all of the credit union's locations.

The company also installed a wide-area metro Ethernet solution called Extended Native LAN and Ethernet Internet Service with 100 Mbps connectivity between Coastal FCU's Raleigh headquarters and its Charlotte data facilities for business continuity.
