Effective April 29th, the credit union's 50th anniversary, Jax Navy Credit Union said it will begin operating under the name VyStar Credit Union. The credit union attributed the change to its switch to a state charter and its expanded field of membership, which now includes anyone living or working in five northeast Florida counties.
The $2.2-billion credit union originally served the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville and has grown to 274,000 members.
"The new name better represents who we are and who we strive to be, without changing our commitment to our current members and the Jacksonville community," said CEO Terry R. West.
