MADISON, Wis. – The Journal CU said it has abandoned its efforts to serve a five-county area and instead will merge into Summit CU. The credit union, which had served employees of the Milwaukee Journal Co. and their family members, had converted to a community charter serving metropolitan Milwaukee, but decided a combination with the larger $680 million credit union was its bets option. Journal CU has 3,600 members and $30 million in assets.
