Justice Probe Delays Fidelity National’s Deal For Metavante

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Fidelity National Information Services said the U.S. Department of Justice has asked it for more information as its probes the antitrust ramifications for its acquisition of Metavante, holding up completion of the deal.

The so-called second request is a procedure in the regulatory process under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act that the combination of back-office service providers for banks and credit unions must undergo.

The two companies announced the stock transaction, valued at $3 billion, on April 1 and said they expected to close the deal by the third quarter. The deal is now expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.
