KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Police CU has developed a new strategy for its select groups, unveiling a subsidiary called Code 1 CU that will facilitate the $95 million credit union’s growth outside of its core law enforcement field of membership.

The new subsidiary will be marketed to select groups, including public safety employees throughout the metropolitan area. The credit union currently is open to police officers, firefighters and others involved in public safety throughout Missouri and in three Kansas counties in the metropolitan area. Code 1 is an effort to reach those potential members outside the natural memberships locally, according to Aaron Goff, president of K.C. Police. “Opening up membership access to additional public safety departments throughout the Kansas City area will continue to enhance the services we provide to our already solid membership base,” said Goff.

Code 1 members will see that name on their VISA credit cards and Code 1 appears on the automatic teller machine newly installed at the Independence Police headquarters. All credit union members will see both names on their regular statements. Code 1 also has a separate online site.
